While some states are trying to pass legislation on bathroom rules, California (especially San Francisco) embraces gender neutrality. For Pride month The Exploratorium at their Thursday night, adult-only event After Dark. They revealed a courageous and bold exhibition based around the bathroom.
The VIPee experience.
They (literally) rolled out the red carpet and turned the bathroom into an exhibit, Ingenious! With a DJ playing Disco music and Disco lights at the bathroom entrance. They covered up the men and women bathroom signs and welcomed you to use the room according to a new set of rules. A museum bathroom attendant would ask you questions: Are you tall, do you wear glasses, do you have long or short hair? Then, they would point you to the door you are supposed to use.
My response was – Can they all leave? I am the type of person that doesn’t want anyone in the bathroom with me, men or women. Also, being a large black man, I wasn’t in the mood to be the extreme outlier to their little experiment, which is a different set of issues we can cover in Black History month. Though, I did appreciate what they were doing!
What would you do?
The Exploratorium delivered a creative thought-provoking exhibit for today’s time.
