This interactive serves as a centerpiece to an exhibit on bio-design and how scientists turn microbes into microscopic factories, manipulating DNA to make designer microbes that can turn sugars and waste products into valuable things.
The game play was inspired by a pinball machine mechanic and styled after a graphic illustration of a microbe. This giant microbe simulation aims to allow visitors to practice metabolic modeling on this enlarged bacteria.
The project required me to design and fabricate the exhibit working closely with the museum’s in-house scientist and learning specialist. My expertise in interactive design guided the museum in developing stories and creating an intuitive constructive way of explaining complex processes to a museum visitor.
